Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships 2024

This Master Mind provides students with the opportunity to enhance their skills during their course of study and equip them with the latest competitive skills while staying in Flanders and Brussels. These students have the opportunity to work under the supervision of renowned mentors from prestigious universities. The scholarship should not be combined with another scholarship from the Flemish government or an Erasmus Mundus scholarship

Participating Institutions in the Master Mind Scholarships In Belgium:

The Master Mind Scholarships allows you to apply to Master’s programs at a variety of universities and university colleges in Flanders and Brussels. Here’s a list of some of the participating institutions:

  • KU Leuven / University of Leuven
  • University of Antwerp
  • Ghent University
  • Hasselt University
  • Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB)
  • LUCA School of Arts
  • Artesis Plantijn University College Antwerp
  • Erasmus University College Brussels
  • Karel de Grote University College
  • PXL University College
  • University College Ghent

Benefits of the Scholarship:

  • A grant of €8,200 + a tuition fee waiver per academic year (60 ECTS)
  • Covers accommodation costs, insurances, and a significant amount of living expenses
  • Only administrative enrollment fee needs to be paid by the scholar

Eligibility:

  • Be an international student from outside Flanders
  • Have a previous degree obtained from a higher education institution located outside Flanders (previous credit mobility in Flanders is acceptable)
  • Demonstrate high academic performance and/or potential (GPA of 3.5 out of 4.0)
  • Apply to a Master’s degree program at a Flemish university or university college

Eligible Countries:

The Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships are specifically designed for international students from outside Flanders and Brussels. This means that students from the following regions are not eligible:

  • Belgium: This includes both Flanders and Brussels regions.
  • European Union (EU) and European Economic Area (EEA): Students from these countries are not eligible for this particular scholarship program.

The program specifically targets international students from all other countries worldwide. There are no specific countries explicitly listed as eligible.

However, a small number of scholarships are reserved for students from priority countries:

  • Japan (3 scholarships)
  • Mexico (3 scholarships)
  • Palestine (2 scholarships)
  • USA (5 scholarships)

While students from these countries might have a slightly higher chance due to the reserved scholarships, the program is still open to all qualified international students outside Flanders and Brussels.

  • Passport photo
  • International passport or national ID
  • A Curriculum Vitae (including your American GPA out of 4.0 and if applicable your publications, academic awards, previous scholarships, etc.)

  • Transcript of records; if written in a language other than Dutch, French, German or English, a certified translation must be enclosed.
  • English language test results or letter of exemption provided by the host university
  • Letter of motivation written in English
  • Two signed letters of recommendation from professors of your (previous) home university, university of applied sciences (and arts) or recent employer written in English.
  • Copy of acquired diploma(s); if written in a language other than Dutch, French, German or English, a certified translation must be enclosed.

The application deadline to apply for the Master Mind Scholarships 2024 is 28th April 2024 23h59 GMT+1.

How to Apply for the Master Mind Scholarships 2024?

  • STEP 1 Check if you are eligible to apply and if the Flemish institution of your choice participates in the Master Mind Scholarships
  • STEP 2 Submit your application to the host institution before their internal deadline (check the deadlines here)
  • STEP 3 The host institution preselects the eligible applications
  • STEP 4 The host institution starts the application procedure for the Master Mind Scholarship by creating your application file in the Mobility-Online application tool
  • STEP 5 You receive an email generated by the Mobility-Online tool notifying you of being preselected for a Master Mind Scholarship
  • STEP 6 You register in the Mobility-Online tool and complete your application file in the Mobility-Online tool before the deadline.
  • STEP 7 The host institution validates and submits the completed application file in the Mobility-Online tool before the deadline of 28th April 2024 23h59 GMT+1. Applications validated submitted after 28th April 2024 23h59 GMT+1 will not be accepted.
