The Climate Change Media Partnership (CCMP) is offering an incredible opportunity for a select group of reporters to attend and cover the 29th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan. This fully funded fellowship program is your chance to be part of a historic event, gain valuable insights from experts, and share critical climate stories with the world.
The CCMP COP29 Reporting Fellowship is a unique program designed to empower journalists from developing countries to play a leading role in covering the crucial discussions at COP29.
The CCMP is a collaboration between Internews’ Earth Journalism Network (EJN) and the Stanley Center for Peace and Security. They have a long history of supporting environmental journalism and empowering journalists to report on critical issues. The CCMP COP29 Reporting Fellowship is open to up to 20 journalists. This competitive program is designed to create a diverse group of fellows representing a range of countries and perspectives.

Eligibility Criteria:
- You should be working in the field of journalism, either as a freelancer or staff member at an established media outlet.
- The fellowship is open to journalists from countries classified as low or middle-income by the World Bank. (See the full list of eligible countries.)
- You must be able to travel to Azerbaijan and attend COP29 from November 9th to 24th, 2024.
- Strong written and spoken English are essential for communication during the program.
- Show your passion for climate change by demonstrating past experience reporting on environmental issues.
- Have a clear idea of the climate stories you want to cover at COP29.
- Provide a letter of support from an editor, producer, or supervisor who can confirm that your news reports will be published or broadcast in an established media outlet. Freelancers are welcome to apply but must provide a letter of support from a media outlet for which they intend to report.
- This program is for journalists who haven’t participated in previous CCMP reporting fellowships.
- Submit original work – no plagiarism or AI-generated content allowed.
- Provide recent, relevant and journalistic work samples on climate change topics, which can be uploaded as documents or web links. Stories can be in any language as long as they are accompanied by a short English synopsis. Clips must focus on climate change topics and should have been published in the last 12 months.
