Queen Mary University of London aims to encourage students from diverse backgrounds to consider a future in AI and related disciplines and to increase the number of people from groups currently underrepresented in the field. In the spirit of this ambition, applications for the Google DeepMind Scholarships will be considered from students who identify as female and students from Black backgrounds.
There are Three scholarships available for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- 1 scholarship is available for a Home student with an offer to study:
- 1. MSc Artificial Intelligence (FT); 2. MSc Computer Science (FT); 3. MSc Machine Learning for Visual Data Analytics (FT); 4. MSc Computer Games (FT) .
- 1 scholarship is available for a Home student with an offer to study:
- 5. MSc Bioinformatics (FT); 6. MSc Artificial Intelligence in the Biosciences (FT); 7. MSc Artificial Intelligence for Drug Discovery (FT); 8. MSc Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Sciences (FT).
- 1 scholarship is available for an International student on any of the programmes (1-8) listed above.
Eligibility Criteria:
To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to be a member of at least one of the under-represented groups mentioned below as well as having an offer to study on one of the programmes listed above.
- You must identify as female or be from a Black background.
- Priority for programs 1-4 (AI, Computer Science, Machine Learning for Visual Data Analytics, Computer Games) is given to both women and Black applicants.
- Priority for programs 5-8 (Bioinformatics, AI in Biosciences, AI for Drug Discovery, AI & Machine Learning in Sciences) is given to Black applicants.
- If applications exceed scholarships, selection will be based on your personal statement and academic merit.

- The scholarship covers the full cost of your Master’s program.
- You’ll receive a generous £17,000 living allowance to help with your costs in London.
- A £2,200 annual travel allowance is included to attend conferences or events related to your studies.
- A one-off equipment allowance of £1,700 will help you get the tools you need to excel in your studies.
